Position: Mental Health Intake Footscray – Senior Mental Health Clinician

Role: Permanent, part time or full time employed and sub-contracting

Position Description:

APMHA is seeking a passionate individual to provide clinical triage, counselling, coordination and allocation support to clients referred through APMHA’s various mental health programs in NSW and Vic. Successful applicants will work closely with medical referrers (GP’s), local allied health providers and clients to ensure adequate support is provided in a timely manner.

The responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating intake/triage via telephone and liaising with Primary Health Networks (PHN’s), GP’s and other referrers, Allied Health Providers and consumers/carers
  • Allocate referrals as per program guidelines
  • Provide counselling support to APMHA waitlist/other clients
  • Data entry for internal and external CRM systems

You will ideally possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nurse, Social Work or Psychology (Mandatory) and registration with AHPRA/AASW.
  • Experience working with people with mental illness (minimum 2 years) across a broad range of acuity, including delivering brief psychological support /interventions
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and the ability to engage and work independently, as part of a multidisciplinary team and with other stakeholders
  • Ability to embrace new programs and be flexible and adaptive.
