Clinical services

APMHA provides a range of mental health services to specific LGAs in the Goulburn Valley and North East regions on behalf of Murray PHN.

Our programs include:

  • Intake, triage, secondary consultation and allocation via our clinical intake team
  • Psychological Therapy Services (PTS) for mild to moderate mental health presentations (IAR levels 2+3)
  • Primary Mental Health Clinical Care Coordination (PMHCCC) for severe and enduring mental health presentations (IAR Levels 4)
  • Older Minds Mental Health Program supporting residents in aged care facilities
  • These are delivered in line with the Stepped Mental Health Model of Care.

IAR 2 + 3: Psychological Therapy Services

Eligible regions

Strathbogie, Greater Shepparton, Benalla, Wangaratta, Alpine, Indigo.

Client groups

Children’s Mental Health (4-13 yo), all eligible regions excluding Wangaratta

Youth, Adult and Older Adults Mental Health Services (14yo+)

This service targets

Mild presentations (high prevalent disorders): requiring brief psychological interventions. These can be provided face to face or telehealth.

Moderate presentations (high prevalent disorders): requiring medium term psychological interventions. These can be provided face to face or telehealth.

What does the service provide?

PTS provides free short term face-to-face or telehealth psychological services to eligible clients who have been identified as under-serviced and/or located in hard to reach areas.

What is the eligibility?

  • Children (4-13 yo) – Mild to Moderate Therapeutic Interventions only – we do not provide diagnostic assessments
  • Young people (14-25 yo)
  • Adults and Older Adults
  • LGBTIQA+ Community
  • Perinatal Depression
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Individuals from Multicultural backgrounds
  • People presenting with low risk of suicide or self-harm

IAR 4 - Primary Mental Health Clinical Care Coordination (PMHCCC)

PMHCCC provides free therapeutic interventions and coordination of clinical services for eligible clients with severe and persistent mental health presentations.

We work closely with your GP, Psychiatrist, Paediatrician, psychosocial services and your nominated family / carers and supports.

Eligible regions

Indigo and Alpine Shires.

This service targets

Moderate episodic presentations (low prevalent): requiring assertive support with a team approach for up to 12 months.

Complex, enduring and severe (low prevalent disorders): requiring longer term assertive support with a team approach for up to 24 months.

What does the service provide?

  • Regular reviewing of your mental health and relapse and recovery goals.
  • Care coordination of your identified support services.
  • Ongoing contribution to your care planning.
  • Psychological therapies.
  • Monitoring of your medications.
  • Liaison and support with your family and friends if you wish for them to be involved in your care.
  • Information on physical health care, including assessment and management if you are at risk of metabolic syndrome.
  • General health and wellbeing education.

GP’s are requested to send a fully completed MHTP with client consent to the APMHA HealthCare Central Intake Line:

  • Via secure email through Medical Objects by searching APMHA HealthCare
  • Please do not send your referrals via post.

Kerry Coyle

Kerry is a registered nurse with 40 years experience working in the mental health sector for the past 20 years. Kerry has worked in a variety of diverse roles including; case management and coordination of complex clients, working within crisis assessment teams, management roles in recovery rehabilitation services, counselling roles at Headspace and providing clinical service provision and working closely with GP’s within the primary mental health area. Her work within primary care began with working in Division’s of GP’s in Wangaratta and Wodonga, Medicare Locals.

Renee has 40 years extensive experience in working with people across the age spectrum and also works with mild-moderate and more complex clients. Renee provides outreach, telehealth and face to face services.

Sondrelle Kilby

Generalist Counsellor and Executive Assistant

Sondrelle is a Generalist Counsellor with an extensive background in education and has been involved in the positive development of children, parents, and caregivers with traumatic and diverse backgrounds. Sondrelle has delivered programs to Indigenous families, along with drug and alcohol affected families, with safe and supportive environments to develop self-worth, balance, and belonging. She has lived experience of mental health and has adapted her lifestyle to promote her own wellbeing. Sondrelle has completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Diploma of Counselling, IAR Training, Triple A First Aid, ATSI Mental Health, Bio-psycho-social Training, Certificate in Art Therapy, Suicide Prevention Training, ACT for Beginners, LGBTQ+ Awareness, Multicultural Training, and The Nature and Treatment of Posttraumatic Nightmares.

Tania is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides counselling and support to adults, children, older adults and adolescence experiencing a range of mental health challenges and life difficulties. She takes a holistic, strengths-based approach, empowering individuals to build resilience, manage stress, and work towards meaningful personal growth and wellbeing. Tania believes effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect and understanding. She works collaboratively with each person to identify what is important to them and develop practical strategies that support their goals. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Your counselling journey will be tailored to your individual needs, strengths and circumstances.
